Competition Terms and Conditions

This competition is open exclusively to Big Tent Friends and Student Friends who cannot be employees of The Big Tent Ideas Festival, The Big Tent Foundation or their immediate families or members of the Judging Panel.

Entries are to be submitted online via the competition page on the Big Tent Ideas Festival website where your entry can be either exclusively in writing (maximum 750 characters) or digital (YouTube link/Presentation/video). If your entry is digital you will be required to add a very short written description, where you can repeat the entry title.

Entrants can be individuals or a group. Groups are limited to a maximum of four.

There is no limit to the number of entries per person/group.

On receipt of entries Big Tent will post them on the competition page of the Big Tent website where Big Tent supporters and visitors will be invited to vote for the submissions they consider most interesting.

Make sure you spread the word about your entry using the #MyBigIdea

The closing date for entries is Midnight on July 17th 2020.

The judging will be in two stages:

  • Entries with most votes on the Competition page of the Big Tent website: voting takes place between July 18th – July 31st.
  • The Big Tent Judging Panel who will be looking for entries that most closely adhere to the Big Tent Mission, Vision and Values

The judges decision is final.

The prize is an invitation to co-curate a Big Tent Digital session with the Big Tent Programme Director. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged.

The Big Tent Programme Director will assess which digital format and broad theme best suits the winning idea.

Digital formats are:

“IN Debate”: A chance to change people’s minds and challenge assumptions

“IN Depth” What do we really need to know? Who should we listen to to learn it?

“IN Conversation”: A chance to hear the life and lessons from a person of the day, 1 on 1

“IN Place” Uncovering innovation and local successes that have been ignored nationally

Digital themes are:

Globalisation, Nationalism and Localism

Democracy and Capitalism

Innovation, Science and Creativity

The Future of Health and Care

The Big Tent Ideas Festival and the Big Tent Foundation shall not be responsible for technical errors in telecommunication network or internet access or otherwise, preventing entry to this website.

Entries will not be returned and once posted will not be removed from the website until after the competition closing date

Entries will be moderated prior to posting on Big Tent Ideas Festival website to ensure they comply with Big Tent Values.
