Conflict and poverty: what is the role of the UK?

Join Big Tent in Partnership with The HALO Trust, with its world class experience in dealing with conflict and weapons, for a discussion on conflict prevention and mitigation. Given the recent integration of the Foreign and Development Offices, with the long expertise of both diplomacy and sustainable development, this should be an important policy area for the British Government And it’s “Global Britain” agenda. How can governments, working in partnership with international organisations and NGOs, use their influence to promote prosperity and prevent conflict in the most difficult of circumstances? To what extent is conflict mitigation in the national interest? What new challenges will climate change, and ongoing environmental degradation, have in this effort, and how can it be mitigated? What are the examples of best practice, that should inform policy development in this area? How will the pandemic affect specific regions, conflicts and poverty?
