InfrastructureFirst ever UK Infrastructure Bank – located in Leeds, the Bank will invest across the United Kingdom in public and private projects to finance the green industrial revolution. Beginning this spring, it will have an initial capitalisation of £12 billion and we expect it to support at least £40 billion of total investment in infrastructure.
InfrastructureUp to £30 million, subject to business case, that the government will match fund for the Global Centre for Rail Excellence in South Wales, which would support innovation in the UK’s rail industry, including the testing of cutting-edge, green technology.
Innovation/ researchThe £375 million UK-wide ‘Future Fund: Breakthrough’ will invest in highly innovative companies such as those working in life sciences, quantum computing, or clean tech, that are aiming to raise at least £20 million of funding. Announced in Treasury’s Budget 2021 document. Programme will launch in early summer of 2021.

Innovation/researchUK government will launch the Advanced Research & Invention Agency (ARIA), a new independent research body to fund high-risk, high-reward scientific research.
OtherThe Treasury, along with the other critical economic departments, including BEIS, DIT, and MHCLG, will establish a new economic campus in Darlington. Announced in Treasury’s Budget 2021 document.
